Terry Williams: A Passion for Tech, Philanthropy, and Community

“It’s about nurturing a community where people don’t just live, but thrive — and for that, the growth and advancement of our local healthcare facilities, like Vail Health, are crucial.”

Terry Williams cherishes the morning walks with his 5-year-old son to kindergarten. This simple routine reflects his commitment to family and community. This same dedication is evident in his business and philanthropic endeavors.

Over the years, Terry has made generous contributions to Vail Health Shaw Cancer Center, personally and through his company, Rhize Tech. The cancer center and its holistic offerings are close to his heart — he witnessed firsthand the impact of patient care and the need for advanced medical technology as a former Vail Health senior network engineer and volunteer. Most recently, Terry has supported innovative research at Shaw. Rhize Tech was also a sponsor of the 15-anniversary Hike, Wine & Dine event that provides critical funds for the Spirit of Survival program and Jack’s Place

Influenced by Family

Terry’s journey from a tech-savvy student at Colorado State University to a philanthropist is deeply intertwined with his personal experiences and his mother’s influence. “My mom taught me the value of giving back. It’s about sharing the gifts we have with others,” Terry reflects.

Terry William’s path to tech started with his passion for helping others. He managed the behavioral sciences computer lab at Colorado State University while working on his degree in social work. After graduation, he secured a job with AT&T, and in 2008, he joined Vail Health as a senior network engineer and volunteer. He founded Rhize Tech in 2013, a venture that marked his transition from healthcare technology to entrepreneurship.

“You have to give to receive. It’s a symbiotic relationship,” he says. While Terry no longer lives in Eagle County, he enjoys regular visits to the high country and continues to support Vail Health from his home on Colorado’s front range.

Balancing Leadership With Service

Despite his busy schedule as a CEO, Terry finds time for personal passions and community involvement. “Whether it’s supporting the local PTA or contributing to autism-related causes, I believe in investing in our community’s future,” he says. He also enjoys dirt biking, skiing, snowmobiling, and wake surfing, and coaches his son’s sports teams.

“To ensure a flourishing community, the availability of essential services is pivotal. Vail Health stands as a cornerstone in providing these vital healthcare services,” he says.

Terry’s generosity will help ensure that residents and visitors in Eagle County, Summit County, and the mountain communities Vail Health serves have continued access to exceptional, locally-provided health care.

“The real joy comes from seeing the direct impact of our contributions.”Terry Williams
