Eagle County Keeps COVID-19 Deaths Well Below Initial Fears One Year Into Pandemic

Looking at the prediction of COVID-19 deaths almost a year later, Eagle County has lost a total of 22 residents — about half the impact Chief Population Health Officer Chris Lindley initially predicted. He was spot-on about the personal impact of COVID-19, however. The valley has lost long-time and well-known neighbors. Today, Lindley is very grateful that his initial mortality prediction was inflated and credits the lower mortality rate locally to mask mandates, treatment, and care for COVID patients, rigorous testing services, and vaccinations by Vail Health and Eagle County.
