Dan Pennington

Dan found his way to Vail in 2015, when he accepted the position of president of Vail Health Foundation. Before that, Dan spent 10 years as Mayo Clinic’s assistant chair of development and campaign director for their first-ever comprehensive campaign, which totaled $1.35B. The best part of his job at the Foundation is helping benefactors make a match – their joy about their gift is palpable.

Dan is always on the lookout for intriguing stories about history, innovation and human nature. Among his favorites are the novels Pillars of the Earth and World Without End and the “Hidden Brain” and “TED Radio Hour” podcasts. He also believes everyone should go after what they’re passionate about in life – if you want to achieve something meaningful, you must take a risk.
