Letter: Thanks for a Wonderful Day
The community came together on Sunday morning in Beaver Creek to enjoy great company, delicious food, and a healthy hike to benefit patients at Vail Health Shaw Cancer Center and Jack’s Place, a cancer-caring house. This year marked the 16th annual Hike, Wine & Dine, and more than 400 hikers enjoyed the bright, blue sky and stunning fall foliage.
Special thanks to Sue Franciose for her tireless leadership and dedication. For 16 years, she has made Hike, Wine & Dine a success, and we are grateful to have such a beloved event.
Thank you to Beaver Creek for hosting this memorable event and our presenting sponsors, the Resnick Family and Rhize Tech, for their generous support. Thanks also to our fabulous restaurants, including Avon Liquor, Beaver Creek Chophouse, Blue Moose Pizza, Dang Sweets, Grouse Mountain Grill, The Osprey, Park Hyatt Beaver Creek, Rimini Gelato, Stoke & Rye, Vail Brewing Company, Vail Mountain Coffee & Tea, and West Vail Liquormart. Lastly, I would like to extend my gratitude to everyone who joined in this year’s hike to raise funds for a meaningful cause.
This year, Hike, Wine & Dine raised over $236,000 for Jack’s Place and Shaw Cancer Center. Since its inception, the event has raised more than $1.4 million. Since its opening in 2007, Jack’s Place has provided more than 20,000 nights of comfortable accommodations to thousands of patients who received treatment at Shaw Cancer Center — at no cost to patients thanks to proceeds from Hike, Wine & Dine. In 2023, the critical funds raised from the event enabled 7,023 patients and survivors to participate in Spirit of Survival programs. These programs, which include fitness classes, counseling, nutrition consults, and various other activities, are all offered free of charge.
On behalf of the patients and staff at Shaw Cancer Center and Jack’s Place, thank you!
