Howard Head Physical Therapist Headed to Cortina With U.S. Snowboard Cross Team

Helen Bradley, a Vail-based physical therapist, is heading to the Cortina Olympics to help assist with the U.S. Snowboard Cross team.

In January 2025, U.S. Ski & Snowboard selected Helen Bradley, a physical therapist at Vail Health Howard Head Sports Medicine, to support the U.S. Snowboard Cross team at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. The assignment continues a nearly 40-year partnership between the two organizations. “I was very excited, stoked, and grateful for the opportunity,” Bradley said.

Bradley, who previously served at the 2018 Winter Olympics in South Korea, has worked with the Snowboard Cross team for more than a decade, building the trust required in one of the most chaotic and high-risk events in the Winter Games. She emphasized the value of working with athletes over time to understand the demands of elite competition. Her role includes providing hands-on treatment, managing injury response on the mountain, and prioritizing recovery.

“The training and experience are important, but what is equally essential is being compatible with the team and able to travel for extended periods,” she said. “You need to be flexible, dependable, and reliable.”

As the Games approach, she remains focused on preparation, recovery, and representing Team USA, Howard Head Sports Medicine, and the valley she proudly calls home.
