Celebrating 40 Years of Empowering Survivors
Bright Future Foundation Programs Provide Hope
This year, Bright Future Foundation (BFF) is celebrating 40 years of providing support and care to survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault in Eagle County. Its holistic programs are designed to empower individuals to overcome adversity, achieve self-sufficiency, and live fulfilling lives.
Helping Victims of Domestic Abuse
Housed within Colorado Mountain Medical Urgent Care, BFF’s Victim First Care offers survivors of acute sexual assault access to critical Medical Forensic Exams (MFEs). These exams collect evidence, treat injuries, address potential pregnancies, and restore choice and autonomy for survivors. Since 2021, Victim First Care has trained 16 sexual assault nurse examiners, served 115 survivors, and completed 48 MFEs, empowering survivors to reclaim control and begin the healing process.
A Safe Place to Land
Since July 2021, BrightHouse has provided a welcoming, sustainable, and trauma-informed environment for survivors of all genders, their children, and pets. With a 90% success rate in transitioning residents to permanent housing, BrightHouse has acted as an essential step to help support and empower individuals on the path to safety. As one survivor shared, “Last night, I could finally sleep without any fear. I knew I had people to support me, and I was not alone.”
Stability Starts with Housing
Stable housing is essential for long-term recovery. The Ensuring Freedom Housing Program assists survivors and their families to find or maintain safe, affordable housing. This federally funded program offers financial aid, case management, support services, and more for up to two years after leaving BrightHouse. The program has provided over $650,000 in assistance to 250 survivors. For 40 years, Bright Future Foundation’s programs have empowered survivors to rebuild their lives with hope and resilience.
