What drew you to nursing leadership?

I was drawn to leadership because it provides me with the opportunity to influence and support the entire healthcare team in delivering exceptional patient care. As a leader, I recognize the importance of shaping a culture where collaboration, respect, and excellence thrive—one that empowers nurses to bring their best every day, fosters professional growth, and allows them to feel valued in their roles. This directly translates into better outcomes for patients and families.

Health care is constantly evolving, and ongoing learning keeps our nurses’ skills sharp and their knowledge current—ensuring they remain leaders in best practices and can deliver exceptional care in every situation, no matter how complex. How long have you been a nurse, and what continues to surprise you about the nurses at Vail Health?

I’ve been a nurse for 31 years, and what continues to surprise me is how deeply our nurses embrace their commitment to excellence and adaptability. No matter the challenge, whether it’s new technology, changing patient needs, or unexpected circumstances, they rise to the occasion with versatility and compassion. Their ability to maintain a collaborative, supportive environment while delivering exceptional care is inspiring and reminds me why nursing is such a vital and dynamic profession.
