How We Work
Vail Health’s Family Birth Center gives nearly 350 mothers and their babies premier obstetrics and neonatal care each year. In fact, Vail Health is recognized as one of America’s Best Hospitals for Obstetrics by the Women’s Choice Award.
Our benefactors’ heartfelt generosity allows mothers and babies at our Family Birth Center to stay in a relaxing, beautiful setting overlooking the gorgeous Vail mountains. Their entire stay is spent in one room – for labor, delivery and recovery. This “rooming in,” keeping your infant in the room with you until discharge, has shown to improve breastfeeding rates, sleep and parent-infant bonding.
Advanced Nursery and Post-Delivery Care
With your support, our Level II Nursery staff can care for the tiniest patients. Parents in our community do not need to travel far from home for excellent care for their premature babies.
Our staff provides continuous contact and involvement with patients’ families, newborns, and support persons post-delivery. Patients feel more secure and comfortable in a home-like setting and, therefore, gain a greater sense of physical and emotional well-being.

I was grateful to have such high-level care close to home. The nurses in the Family Birth Center are amazing.
