Fracture Friday: Meghan Buchanan Goes From Broken Femur to Mt. Everest
Meghan Buchanan shares her journey from a snowboarding accident to full recovery, thanks to the efforts of the Vail Health Howard Head Sports Medicine team. She took this horrific experience and turned it into a personal lesson of perseverance.
She says, “I am no stranger to struggle, so this was just another obstacle I was going to have to figure out. I was barely mobile, on a lot of painkillers, and relied on friends and family to take care of me for months. I started rehab at Howard Head Sports Medicine immediately. I requested the most demanding, hardcore PT they had. And I got him, Dr. Thomas Olson. I was in therapy 2-3 times a week, plus daily exercises.”
